The 18th National Symposium on Numerical Methods in Fluids Held

The 18th National Symposium on Numerical Methods in Fluids (NSNMF) was held from 12 to15 August 2017 in Huaihua, Hunan. The symposium was hosted by the Sate Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics(LASG), the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and co-sponsored by the School of Mathematics and Systems Science of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the School of Mathematical Sciences, Peking University, the State Key Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing (LSEC), Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, the State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics, the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) and Huaihua University.Launched in 1981, NSNMF symposium is held biennially. More than 200 scientists and students attended this symposium.

Prof. XIE Zhenghui, LASG Deputy Director presided over the opening ceremony. CAS Academician Prof. SHI Zhongci from AMSS and Prof. SONG Kehui from Huaihua University gave opening speeches.Academician Prof. ZENG Qingcunfrom IAP, Academician Prof. DENG Xiaogang from National University of Defense Technology,Academician Prof. WANG Huijun from IAP,Academician Prof. JIANG Song from Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, Academician Prof. Zhang Pingwen from Peking University, Prof. WANG Bin from IAP, Prof. WANG Qi from Beijing Computational Science Center, Prof. REN Yuxin from Tsinghua University, Prof. CAI Xiaochuan fromUniversity of Colorado, and Prof. FENG Xiaobing from University of Tennessee delivered invited talks. Sessions focused on current research on numerical methods in fluids and its future development. Relevant fluid motion theoretical and practical problems in the field of meteorology, marine science, space science, medicine and geology were discussed in detail.
