Introduction

Abstract

This talk, for a purpose of data education and outreach, provides a general view on activities on the scientific data stewardship in the NOAA national data centers (NODC, NCDC, NGDC and CLASS) for an improved public access. A brief introduction will also be given on the Open Archival Information System (OAIS), a reference model and conception frame work on comprehensive data management, and metadata (data bout data) in its conception, content and evolution of standard. Then, some most popular datasets in those data centers will be discussed.
