IAP scientists attended MOCA-09

The joint assembly of The International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS), The International Association for the Physical Sciences of the Oceans(IAPSO), and International Association for the Cryospheric Sciences (IACS) was held on 19-29 July 2009 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. About 1340 scientists and students from 63 countries and regions attended the assembly. There were 79 delegates from mainland . The theme of the assembly is “Our Warming Planet”.

More than 30 scientists and graduate students from IAP attended the conference. The president of IAMAS, academician /prof. Guoxiong Wu gave the address at the opening. Academician/Prof. Mu Mu and Prof. Jianping Li were the conveners of some symposia. Yimin Liu, Xiushu Qie, Yi Liu, Jianping Li and Fumin Ren were the session chairs. Except for the presentations, many IAP scientists attend the administrative meetings, e.g. the executive committee meetings and commission meetings of IAMAS.

IAMAS, IAPSO, and IACS are among the eight associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). The president of IUGG, Dr. Tom Beer, attended these administrative meetings and he highly praised Chinese scientists’ active participation in the international activities and acknowledged the contribution of Chinese national committee for IUGG in boosting earth sciences and studies in .
