2002年于中国科学院大气物理研究所获理学博士学位。现为大气物理研究所大气科学和地球流体力学数值模拟国家重点实验室固定成员。曾访问美国Florida州立大学气象系做访问学者。有基层气象台站工作经验，先后在河北省邯郸气象台和河北省气象台从事短期和中期天气预报工作，1996年被评聘为气象高级工程师。

        近年来主要从事平流层环流异常机理，平流层-对流层相互作用，海气相互作用效应，以及副热带环流及副热带高压异常机理等天气尺度和气候尺度大气环流演变规律的研究。

        曾主持国家自然科学基金面上项目，曾担任和正在担任国家973课题组长、副组长和首席科学家助理及973项目办公室主任。参加多项国家基金重点、中国科学院重要方向项目等部委项目。
